One of my favorite things about Milan is seeing the city from above. During the day you get incredible panoramic views of the Duomo Cathedral, elegant rooftops, and historic buildings. At sunset, the entire city turns golden, and after dark, rooftop bars become some of the trendiest places to grab an Aperol Spritz or a cocktail.
If you’re planning a special trip, staying at a hotel with its own rooftop bar makes the experience even better. Instead of rushing across the city for drinks, you can simply head upstairs and enjoy some of the best views in Milan without leaving your hotel.
Below are my favorite Milan hotels with rooftop bars, whether you’re looking for luxury, incredible Duomo views, or somewhere with a lively atmosphere. This post contains affiliate links. When you make a purchase I may get a small commission at no extra cost to you. Find out more here.

Hotel VIU Milan: Best Rooftop Pool & Skyline Views
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ • 9.0/10 (1,214 reviews)
💲 Luxury • 👉 Check current prices here
If you’re looking for a luxurious experience, Hotel VIU Milan is probably my top pick.
The rooftop here is one of the best in the city. Besides a beautiful rooftop bar, you’ll also find one of the few rooftop pools in Milan.
It’s hard to beat spending the afternoon by the pool before watching the sunset with panoramic views of the Milan skyline.
The hotel itself is a member of Design Hotels, so everything feels sleek and contemporary without trying too hard.
The rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows, elegant décor, Smart TVs, and all the comforts you’d expect from a five-star hotel.
The rooftop serves excellent signature cocktails alongside Italian wines and light finger food, making it a great place to relax after a day of sightseeing.
Although it’s not directly beside Piazza del Duomo, the central location means you can easily reach Milan’s main attractions by metro or taxi.
If you’re celebrating something special, this is one of the best rooftop hotels in Milan.

Hotel Tivoli Milano President: Best for Walking to the Duomo
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ • 8.8/10 (319 reviews)

If waking up within walking distance of Milan’s biggest attractions is your priority, it’s hard to beat Hotel Tivoli Milano President.
In just a short walk, you can reach Piazza del Duomo, the magnificent Duomo Cathedral, Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, Teatro alla Scala, and Palazzo Reale.
The rooftop terrace isn’t as famous as some of the city’s dedicated rooftop venues, but that’s actually part of its appeal. It feels quieter and more relaxed, making it a lovely place for a drink after a busy day exploring.
The hotel offers spacious rooms, excellent service, free WiFi, and a fantastic breakfast, making it one of the best choices for first-time visitors who want convenience above everything else.

Inside, the hotel features elegant rooms, a luxurious spa with an indoor pool, and impeccable service that consistently ranks among the best in Milan.
It sits right beside Milano Centrale Station, making it surprisingly convenient despite its luxury feel.
If your budget allows, this is one of the finest hotels in the city.
Sina The Gray: Best Boutique Rooftop Near the Duomo
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ • 8.1/10 (186 reviews)
💲 Luxury • 👉 Check current prices here
If you prefer boutique hotels over large luxury chains, Sina The Gray is a fantastic option.
Located just steps from Piazza del Duomo, this stylish hotel puts you right in the heart of Milan while still feeling intimate and exclusive.
Its rooftop terrace is the perfect setting for evening drinks after exploring the city. While it’s smaller than some of Milan’s larger rooftop venues, that’s exactly what gives it its charm.
The hotel combines modern design with luxurious touches, and its location means you can walk almost everywhere.
The Duomo, Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, luxury shopping streets, and many of Milan’s best restaurants are only a few minutes away.
If you’re planning a romantic getaway, this would be one of my top recommendations.

Which Milan Hotel with a Rooftop Bar Should You Choose?
If you’re still undecided, here’s how I’d narrow it down.
- Choose Hotel VIU Milan if you want the best rooftop pool and panoramic city views.
- Book Hyatt Centric Milan Centrale if rooftop cocktails, nightlife, and a lively atmosphere are your priority.
- Stay at Hotel Tivoli Milano President if you want to walk everywhere and be close to the Duomo.
- Go for Excelsior Hotel Gallia if you’re planning a luxury trip with fine dining and one of Milan’s most beautiful rooftop restaurants.
- Pick Sina The Gray if you prefer a stylish boutique hotel in the heart of Milan with an intimate rooftop terrace.
No matter which hotel you choose, I highly recommend heading up to the rooftop around golden hour.
Watching the sun set over Milan with an Aperol Spritz in hand is one of those travel moments you’ll remember long after your trip ends.
