Egypt is an amazing destination. It has so much to offer: ancient temples, ancient history, a vibrant culture, cruising on the River Nile – just to name a few. However, many women said they had negative experiences when they went on an Egypt solo travel due to unwanted attention and sexual harassment. That’s why, in my opinion, Egypt is one of the destinations that is best suited for a group trip. So in this post I’ll share the details of the Egypt group trip for solo travelers in their mid 20’s – early 40’s I’m joining September 27 – October 5 so you can come too.

Day 1: Arrive in Cairo and meet your group
The Egypt group trip starts in Cairo. Once you land, you will be met by an Indy Escapes team member before the passport control area. They will assist you through immigration and escort you to your private transfer, which will then take you directly to the hotel.

The hotel is located near the Giza Pyramids and it offers both comfort and a unique location where you can catch the first glimpse of this wonder.
The tour officially kicks off in the afternoon. That’s when you meet all your fellow travelers, have dinner, and break the ice as you prepare for a week of adventures.
If you arrive earlier you can relax in your hotel room, sit by the pool, or explore the hotel’s lush gardens.
Day 2: Explore the Great Pyramids of Giza and the Egyptian Museum
The first full day starts with a visit to the Pyramids of Giza and the Great Sphinx, two of the most iconic attractions in the world. I’m so excited to visit them!

Then you’ll visit the Valley Temple. Sacred rituals were performed here to honor the dead.
After exploring the temple we will go to the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square, home to the world’s most extensive collection of Pharaonic antiquities. There are many artifacts here that span thousands of years, including the legendary golden mask of King Tutankhamun.
After a day of learning more about ancient Egypt we will go to dinner and then board a sleeper train to Aswan. This is a night train, so we’ll sleep on the train and we’ll wake up in Aswan the next day.
Day 3: Visit Aswan and go on a felucca ride
Aswan is a city that has been a gateway to Africa. Aswan’s serene environment provides a stark contrast to the hustle and bustle of Cairo, offering a more peaceful environment on the banks of the Nile River.

Here is Aswan we will visit the High Dam and the Philae Temple before boarding a cruise where we’ll have lunch. The High Dam is a testament to Egypt’s engineering prowess and it had a crucial role in Egypt’s development. The Philae Temple is a sanctuary dedicated to the Goddess Isis.
In the afternoon we’ll go on a felucca ride on the Nile and then we’ll return on the cruise ship to begin our Nile cruise.
Day 4: Check out Abu Simbel and the Temple of Kom Ombo
In the morning we’ll relax on the cruise ship and admire the views as we sail to Kom Ombo.

An optional excursion to Abu Simbel is available. Abu Simbel is a UNESCO World Heritage site and it has some of the most impressive temples in Egypt.
Then, in Kom Ombo, we’ll visit the Temple of Kom Ombo, dedicated to two gods: Sobek, the crocodile god, and Horus, the falcon god.
Then we’ll go back on the ship and we’ll sail to Edfu, where we spend the night. The journey between Kom Ombo and Edfu allows us to witness life along the Nile, with farmers tending their fields and children playing by the riverbanks.
Day 5: Marvel at the Luxor Temple
Day 5 begins with the last part of sailing the River Nile. In the afternoon we disembark in Luxor where we will visit the famous Luxor Temple, one of the most visited tourist sites in Egypt.

Can’t wait to walk through the grand colonnades of the Luxor Temple, adorned with its intricate carvings. It’s easy to imagine the grand processions that once took place here.
After exploring one of the most impressive historical sites in Egypt and learning more about Egyptian culture we will return on the ship for the final night on the Nile.
Day 6: Take in the wonders of the Valley of the Kings
Our final day in Luxor is dedicated to exploring the West Bank, where some of Egypt’s most significant sites are located.

We will first visit the Valley of the Kings, the resting place of Egypt’s pharaohs. We’ll descend into their tombs, including the tomb of Tutankhamun, which survived millennia.
Then we will visit the Hatshepsut Temple, an architectural marvel built into the cliffs of Deir el-Bahari, with grand terraces and colonnades.
Finally, we will cross back to the East Bank to visit the Karnak Temple, one of the largest religious sites ever built. It has 134 towering columns, and it is one of the most awe-inspiring sights in Egypt.
Then we will hop on a bus and will be transferred to Hurghada, a city by the Red Sea, perfect for relaxing by the water.
Day 7: Relax in Hurghada by the Red Sea
After almost a week of visiting ancient world wonders it’s time for some rest and relaxation by the sea (or the pool).

We will spend the day at the Bel Air Azur Hotel, a luxurious hotel that has a private beach, swimming pools, and spa services.
There are also optional snorkeling and diving excursions available if you want to add a bit more adventure to your day.
Hurghada also offers vibrant nightlife and shopping opportunities, so we can also venture into the town in the evening to experience its lively atmosphere.
Day 8: Say goodbye to the group in Cairo
After breakfast we’ll say goodbye to Hurghada and head back to Cairo. We will stay at Radisson Blu Hotel, conveniently located near the airport.
This is a day with free time so you can either take advantage of the hotel’s amenities or head into town to explore more of Cairo.
Day 9: Return home
This is the saddest moment of the trip since we have to go home. After breakfast and saying goodbye to our fellow travelers we will check out and head to the airport to catch our flights and return home.

FAQs about the Egypt group trip
Who organizes this trip? Have you traveled with them before?
This group trip is organized by Indy Escapes, a small travel company founded by Lucas Chesterton almost 10 years ago. He is an Australian traveler who already visited 130+ countries and plans to see every single country.
Lucas is still the tour director and runs these group trips himself because he enjoys sharing some of his favorite destinations such as the Maldives, Kenya, Sri Lanka, Zanzibar, and Egypt with new people every year.

I traveled with Indy Escapes to Kenya. It was the most incredible trip I’ve ever been on. The itinerary was so carefully designed, the people who joined were amazing, and the vibe was super fun and safe.
I really like the fact that Lucas focuses on providing unforgettable experiences for all the travelers that join his trips. But at the same time he makes sure we give back to the communities we visit and we immerse ourselves in the local culture.
Since I loved traveling with him so much, I decided to join him on this Egypt trip as well. And we also designed a Romania group trip together August 30 – September 6 (I’m Romanian, so I’ll show you all the best spots).
I would love to have you on both of these trips. I promise you will have a good time, will tick off bucket list experiences, and will make friends for life.
Who is this group trip for?
This group is for solo travelers in their mid 20’s – early 40’s who want to travel in a safe, fun, and inclusive environment. Couples and small groups of friends are also welcome to join.
People who join Indy Escapes trips appreciate the outdoors, wildlife, and natural beauty while seeking immersive cultural experiences and sustainable travel options.
Do I need a visa for Egypt?
Yes, you most likely need a visa to travel to Egypt. However, getting a visa for Egypt is generally straightforward (depending on nationality), as Egypt offers an online e-visa service and visa on arrival for tourists from most countries.
Contact your nearest embassy or consulate of Egypt for the latest details and to confirm if you are eligible.
How much does the trip cost?
The trip costs $2,390. If you use code SOLOINSTYLE when you book you can save $50.
The price is for a twin shared room, which means that you will share the room with one other person. If you don’t want to share the room you can pay for a single supplement. In this case the trip costs $3,990.
Only a $300 deposit is needed for booking and the final payment is due on August 28. There are payment plans available. You can just submit an enquiry here and Lucas will get back to you on that.
Which airport do I need to fly to?
You will fly in and out of Cairo International Airport.

No, flights are not included since people join this trip from all over the world.

Yes, transfers to and from Cairo International Airport are included in the cost of this trip. Once you land, you will be met by an Indy Escapes team member before the passport control area.
They will assist you through immigration and escort you to your private transfer, which will then take you directly to the hotel. Return airport transfers at the end of the trip are also included to ensure a seamless and stress-free experience.
Are there any additional costs?
There are a few optional activities that come at an additional cost: a Nile River dinner cruise, a hot-air balloon ride over Luxor, a camel ride near the pyramids, and a guided tour of the Egyptian Museum.
Can I join the trip solo?

Is Egypt safe for solo travelers?
Egypt is generally considered a safe destination for tourists, particularly in the regions we visit. That being said, many solo female travelers shared their not-so-great experiences in Egypt due to unwanted attention and sexual harassment.
That’s why I decided to join this group trip instead of going solo. In my opinion, Egypt is one of the destinations that is best suited for small group trips. This way you can explore all the incredible places in Egypt without having to worry about your safety since you’re with a group the entire time.
