The history of AMOY Hotel Singapore
AMOY Hotel is a 4-star boutique hotel by Far East Hospitality. It’s probably the most unique hotel I’ve ever stayed at since the entrance is a former temple, now the Fuk Tak Chi museum.

And it’s not just any temple, but Singapore’s first Chinese temple. This area was the landing site of Chinese immigrants and so the forefathers of Singapore built this temple to give thanks for their safe journey there.
You read that right. To get to the hotel lobby from Telok Ayer Street you have to go through the oldest temple in Singapore. When I got there and I saw this entrance the first thing that crossed my mind was: what a cool hotel!

Then as I got to the lobby I was greeted by the friendly staff of AMOY Hotel. As they were taking care of my check in, they offered me a welcome drink: a lovely cup of tea.
This tea is a custom blend specifically made for the AMOY Hotel. I loved the customized touch of the welcome drinks!

Location of AMOY Hotel Singapore
The hotel has a great location in Singapore’s Chinatown, right by the Telok Ayer MRT station. It’s also very close to the Central Business District (CBD), so you’ll be able to experience the old meets new vibe of this area.

Tourist attractions such as Clarke Quay, Marina Bay Sands, and the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple are all within walking distance.
You will also be close to 2 hawker centers: Lau Pa Sat and Maxwell Food Centre. Lau Pa Sat is literally down the street and you’ll be there in 5 minutes. Maxwell is about 10 minutes away.

If you don’t have these hawker centers on your itinerary you must add them. They serve such good food! And you’ll find multiple stalls with Michelin accolades.
In addition, the train station is right by the hotel too, so you are well connected to the entire city. It truly is an excellent location!
Rooms at AMOY Hotel Singapore

The hotel has both double and single rooms, and they all have private bathrooms. I opted for a cosy single room that is the perfect choice for solo travellers.
However, if you travel with someone you have the choice of booking a double room.

A fun fact about the AMOY Hotel is that all their rooms have different decor. So if you and someone else book a single room, they won’t be identical. I loved the fact that each room is unique.

My room had a comfortable bed, a rain shower, a blue and white porcelain sink, a desk and a chair, and a place to store my luggage and clothes.

I also had a Nespresso coffee machine in the room and a mini bar that had free soft drinks and chips that get refilled every day. It’s so rare to have a complimentary mini-bar, I loved it.

I also had a handwritten note to welcome me to the hotel waiting for me on the desk. I love these little gestures so much!

They show how much the hotel cares about their guests and how they are committed to offering personalized service.
Breakfast at AMOY Hotel Singapore
Even though the AMOY hotel does not have an in-house restaurant, they partnered with 2 local restaurants next door to offer 2 different breakfast experiences for their guests.

The two restaurants are Genius Central and Offbeat. Genius Central is a restaurant that focuses more on plant-based, organic options such as smoothies, avocado toast, or granola bowls.
Offbeat has a more traditional breakfast menu with items such as a smoked salmon omelet or French toast.
I tried both options during my stay at AMOY Hotel and I loved them both. You can’t go wrong with any of them.

If I had to pick a favorite, I would probably go with Genius Central just because I love eating healthy, organic food that tastes good.
There is a set menu for AMOY Hotel guests for both restaurants. You can pick any dish and drink from the set menu.
There is enough variety on the menu, so even if you stay longer at AMOY Hotel you can have different breakfast dishes every day.
Amenities at AMOY Hotel Singapore
AMOY Hotel doesn’t have amenities like a gym or a pool onsite. However, the perk of being a Far East Hospitality Hotel, is that AMOY Hotel guests have exclusive access to the amenities of the Clan Hotel.
The Clan Hotel is a hotel located very close to AMOY that is also part of Far East Hospitality. The Clan is a much more modern hotel located in a skyscraper, while AMOY is a small boutique hotel focused more on tradition and cultural heritage.

AMOY guests can use the rooftop pool at the Clan Hotel. It’s an incredible outdoor pool with an unbelievable view of both the CBD area and the Chinatown area.
The chairs by the pool are limited, so if you want to use one of them you will have to let the AMOY front desk hotel staff know so they can book them for you.

The Clan Hotel also has a state-of-the-art gym that AMOY Hotel guests can use. It is equipped with both cardio and strength training equipment.
And it even has a huge screen where you can watch workout videos and train alongside them. It’s a really cool gym and it’s located on a high floor, so you’ll have a great view during your workout as well.
