1. Capella Singapore
Capella is a 5-star hotel on Sentosa Island. Sentosa is an island on the Southern Coast that is connected to the city by road, cable car, monorail, and pedestrian boardwalk. Think of it like a neighborhood of Singapore rather than an island because it has a convenient location that’s very well connected to the city centre.
Sentosa is also home to Universal Studios Singapore. The lush tranquility of Sentosa can be a great escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.
If you choose to stay on Sentosa you can take advantage of ample space, ocean views, plenty of dining options, and of course, a personal pool.
If you stay in the city it’s a bit harder to find private pool rooms since a lot of hotels are skyscrapers and there isn’t enough space to build an outdoor pool for every room.
At Capella the one-bedroom and two-bedroom villas comes with a private plunge pool.
One of their manors also comes with a private jacuzzi, while the other two manors come with private lap pools. All villas have a garden view and an outdoor terrace.
These private pool villas are the epitome of luxury and are a great option if you want some quality time on your vacation.
There are 2 on-site restaurants, one that serves Italian food and one that serves Chinese contemporary cuisine. And there are also two bars. One of the bars, Bob’s Bar, has outdoor seating so you can enjoy the lush greenery and the skyline.
They also have a spa on-site. And not just any spa, but the first spa in Singapore to receive a five-star status from Forbes Travel Guide.

2. Fullerton Bay Hotel Singapore
The Fullerton Bay Hotel is a luxurious hotel located right in the center of Singapore. It’s part of the same brand as the famous Fullerton Hotel Singapore. The Premier Bay View Room comes with a private jacuzzi and views of the waterfront and city skyline.
Having your own hot tub, a private balcony, and views of Marina Bay Sands? Sign me up!
This is the only Singapore hotel that offers rooms with a private jacuzzi as far as I know. All others are on Sentosa.
So if you want to be close to the Central Business District, have your own private pool, modern amenities, and large windows to enjoy the incredible views, this is a great place to stay.
I think it’s a great choice for both business travelers since it’s close to the Central Business District and leisurely travelers since most tourist attractions are located within walking distance.
The air-conditioned rooms come with Dyson hair dryers, a flat-screen TV, and a selection of Bacha coffee and tea.
The hotel has a French bistro on-site, a place to serve afternoon high-tea and cocktails, and a rooftop bar with great skyline views.
The fitness center has modern equipment, the rooftop pool is perfect if you want to swim with a view, and their award-winning spa can be a great place to relax.

3. Equarius Villas at Resorts World Sentosa
Equarius Villas at Resorts World is a luxury resort on Sentosa Island, located about 30 minutes away from Changi Airport by car.
All Equarius Villas have an outdoor swimming pool. These tropical villas also come with a personal butler.
You can pick from a one-bedroom villa that can host up to 3 adults, a two-bedroom villa that can host up to 4 adults, or a three-bedroom villa that can host up to 6 adults.
The 2-bedroom and 3-bedroom villas have their own private pools, while the one-bedroom villa has direct access to the resort’s pool.
The hotel offers a range of workouts and wellness workshops to their guests. There is a shuttle service that operates daily between 8am and 10pm and can take you to different places on Sentosa Island.
Resorts World also offers a complimentary Sentosa express pass to everyone staying with them.
There are also buggies on stand by if you need to go to a different part of the resort and don’t feel like walking.

4. Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort & Spa
Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort & Spa is a luxury hotel located at the top of a hill on the Southern edge of Sentosa Island. It has direct access to the famous Tanjong Beach and it is close to an award-winning golf course.
There are also peacocks living at this hotel to add to the luxurious vibe.
While the regular rooms and suites do not have a private pool, if you stay at Villa du Jardin you will have your own pool.
The villa has a living room and two bedrooms, so it can be a good choice for both a romantic holiday or a family vacation.
There are multiple restaurants and bars on-site, as well as various unique wellness offerings. For example, they have a run concierge who can take you to explore Sentosa on a walk or run.
They also offer a wellness retreat at the resort that combines guided meditation, sound healing, breath work, and group exercises.

5. Amara Sanctuary Resort Sentosa
Amara Sanctuary Resort Sentosa is a 5-star resort also located on Sentosa Island.
Their Courtyard Suites come with a private jacuzzi and courtyard and they are located in restored colonial buildings.
The one-bedroom and two-bedroom villas come with their own private pools. These villas are very private and come surrounded by lush greenery to make sure you have a tranquil stay.
They have an on-site restaurant that offers all-day dining with dishes made from locally sourced ingredients. In addition, they have a Japanese restaurant that has a Michelin-starred chef.
There is another restaurant that offers Indian, Asian, and cosmopolitan fusion dishes. There are also two restaurants that offer private dining that are perfect if you’re celebrating something.
The resort also has a fitness center, a spa, padel tennis courts, and three outdoor pools.

6. W Singapore – Sentosa Cove
W Singapore Sentosa Cove is a 5-star luxury hotel that is part of the Marriott umbrella. So if you’re a Marriott Bonvoy member you will be able to receive points for your stay. At the same time, if you have enough points you can redeem them for your stay here.
The hotel offers multiple types of suites that come with a private pool. Their Fantastic Suite, Wow Suite, and Extreme Wow Suite (love these names by the way) for example, are located on a top floor, so you’ll have both the private pool and views of the South China Sea and the marina.
The Away Suite is located on the garden level, so it’s surrounded by lush greenery that also offers more privacy. So you can choose whatever suite feels like a better fit for you.
The hotel has 2 restaurants and 2 bars on-site and they also offer room service. One of the restaurants, called Skirt, is an open fire restaurant, that focuses on grill dishes from premium ingredients cooked on an open fire.
The property also has a spa that was designed to resemble a rainforest. The spa offers a variety of treatments such as infrared heat therapy, steam room, whirlpool, vitality pool and experiential showers.

FAQs about Singapore
What is the best time to visit Singapore?
I visited in early April and the weather cooperated for the most part. No matter when you visit it will be hot and humid and temperatures will be around 25-32 degrees Celsius (77-90 F). However, because of the humidity, it feels like it’s even hotter.
There will most likely be thunderstorms. It happened almost every day when I was there. But the good news is that they mostly last for a few hours. And other than that it tends to be pretty sunny.
How can I get to the city center from Singapore Changi airport?
Public transport
You can take the bus. They have buses going to the city from all terminals of Changi.
Or you can take the train to Tanah Merah MRT Station, then transfer to the East West Line towards Tuas Link MRT Station.
You can pay for all public transportation with a contactless Mastercard or Visa card, your mobile wallet, EZ-link cards or the Singapore tourist pass.
Grab
Grab is the most popular e-ride app in Asia. It’s basically the Uber of Asia. So make sure to download the app before your trip.
The app is super easy to use. The service is very reliable and you can easily get a car.
This is the most convenient option to get to your hotel from the airport.
If you don’t want to download yet another app, then you can schedule a private transfer.
How to get cell phone data when visiting from abroad?
The cheapest and most convenient way to get data while visiting from abroad is to buy an eSIM. An eSIM is a digital SIM that lets you activate a data plan from a provider without having to use a physical SIM card. They are super easy to use.
I use Airalo. You can go to their website, select the country you’re traveling to, select how many GB of data you want, and how many days you want the eSIM to be active for. After you pay you will receive a confirmation email with instructions on how to activate the eSIM.
You can activate it on your phone and the process takes under 1 minute. Once the eSIM is activated you don’t have to do anything else. When you’re at your destination you will automatically get data.
Is Singapore safe for a solo female traveler?
Yes! Singapore was probably one of the safest countries I’ve ever been to. It’s the 5th safest country in the world according to the Global Peace Index.
You can walk around by yourself anywhere in the city and nobody says anything to you. People mind their business.
I haven’t seen any scammers, beggars, or homeless people during my trip. I didn’t even have to be on high alert as I usually am when I travel in Western Europe, for example.
It felt as safe walking outside at night as it felt during the day. Singapore can be a great first solo destination in Asia since it’s a developed country and it’s very safe.
Do I need cash for my trip to Singapore?
Yes, you will need a bit of cash to get food at the hawker centers and at some bakeries in Chinatown. But even at hawker centers, most stalls accept card payment. Other than that I paid for everything with a credit card.
There are plenty of ATMs in the city, so if you forget to get some at the airport there won’t be any problem.
Pro tip: always get cash from an ATM in the country you’re visiting instead of going to an exchange place. Your bank will always have better exchange rates when taking out cash in a foreign currency from an ATM.
Do I need to book tickets for attractions in advance?
I highly recommend you book all the tickets online in advance of your trip. Singapore’s main attractions are very popular and can get sold out if you don’t book in advance.
Do people speak English in Singapore?
Yes, they do. English is one of the official languages in Singapore. It’s also the language they use in schools and it’s the exclusive language in many public services.
The level of fluency varies from person to person depending on their educational background, but I had no problems communicating in English with everyone during my trip.
Do you recommend Singapore as a solo destination?
Yes, I highly recommend Singapore as a destination for solo female travelers. There are so many things to do, the food is delicious, the people are great, and I felt very safe.
