Infinity book tower Prague: is it worth visiting?

The Infinity Book Tower Prague has become one of the city’s most viral Instagram spots. Located inside the Municipal Library of Prague, this towering installation made from stacked books creates the illusion of an endless tunnel thanks to mirrors placed inside.

What used to be a hidden gem is now one of the busiest photo spots in Prague. During my visit, there was constantly a long line of people waiting to take pictures directly in front of the tower.

What is the Infinity Book Tower in Prague?

The Infinity Book Tower is an art installation located inside the Prague Municipal Library. It was created by Slovak artist Matej Krén and is made from thousands of books stacked into a cylindrical tower.

At the center of the tower there are mirrors that create the optical illusion that the books continue infinitely both upward and downward.

It’s visually impressive and definitely one of the most unique free attractions in Prague.

Where is the Infinity Book Tower located?

The tower is located inside the Prague Library, only a short walk from the Old Town Square.

Because it’s in such a central location, it’s very easy to add to your Prague itinerary while exploring the Old Town area.

Is the Infinity Book Tower free?

Yes! Visiting the Infinity Book Tower is completely free.

That’s one of the reasons why it became so popular on social media. And why the lines of curious visitors can get very long throughout the day.

You don’t need any tickets, just go to Prague’s Municipal Library.

My experience visiting the Infinity Book Tower

I visited after seeing countless Instagram and TikTok videos calling it a hidden gem in Prague.

The reality? It’s definitely not a hidden gem anymore.

When I arrived, there was a huge line of people waiting to take the classic front-facing picture where you can look directly into the mirrored center of the tower.

I ended up waiting about one hour. And I don’t think it was worth the wait.

The actual experience lasts only a few seconds. You walk up, take your picture, look inside the tower, and leave.

The mirror effect is cool, but you immediately realize the “infinite” effect is just created by mirrors reflecting the books repeatedly. It’s visually interesting, but not mind-blowing enough to justify standing in line for an hour.

The best tip to avoid the long line

Here’s the hack I wish I knew before visiting.

If you only want pictures with the tower, you do not need to wait in the main line.

There’s another door right next to the one people queue up for, where you can access the side and back of the installation without waiting.

From there, you can still get beautiful photos with the tower in the background.

The only thing you miss is the chance to look directly inside the mirrored center.

So unless that specific shot is very important to you, I’d skip the line completely.

Is the Infinity Book Tower worth visiting?

Yes, but it’s not worth waiting for it. It’s definitely a little bit overrated because of social media trends.

Because it’s free and centrally located, I still think it’s worth stopping by while exploring the Old Town in the Czech capital.

But I would approach it differently:

• I wouldn’t treat it like a major attraction
• Don’t plan your day around it
• Don’t wait an hour for the perfect Instagram shot

Instead, stop by, see if the line is short, and if not, go inside through the next door and take pictures with the side of the tower instead of the front of it. That’s what I would do if I visited Prague again.

Tips for visiting the Infinity Book Tower

• The best time to visit is early in the morning if you want shorter lines
• Don’t expect it to still be a hidden gem
• Bring a wide-angle lens if you want better photos
• Use the side/back area if the front line is too long
• Combine your visit with nearby Old Town attractions

Final thoughts on the Infinity Book Tower Prague

This Prague book tunnel is a cool thing that looks incredible on social media and is still fun to see in person, especially for book lovers. But expectations matter.

It’s a cool free art installation in the public library and a unique photo spot, but it’s no longer Prague’s secret hidden gem. It’s now one of the major tourist attractions.

My recommendation? Go, take a few pictures from the library’s lobby if the line is long, and spend the rest of your time exploring the many other incredible places Prague has to offer.
